Day Trips from Perdido Key

Small town living, especially on the Gulf Coast, is charming. In Perdido, you have activities, outdoor seating with a view at your favorite restaurant and even better, you're a short drive from so many other charming towns in the area!

In this article we’re going to break down just a few options for day trips. Whether you are vacationing to Perdido Key or you recently bought a new home, you will find more than enough entertainment to keep you (and your visitors) busy. Below are a few day trip options within an hour from Perdido

Fairhope, Alabama (1 hour drive)

One of the most charming southern towns is located just over the line into Alabama. Magazines like Southern Living, Smithsonian and Travel & Leisure have all spotlighted this beautiful spot and for good reason. You won’t find big hotels or chain restaurants in Fairhope, but you will find the cutest bed and breakfast options planted perfectly on bluffs overlooking Mobile Bay and some of the best food you can get your hands on. Whether you rent a bike or take a stroll through the downtown area, we highly suggest you check out Fairhope French Quarter. The cobblestone courtyard usually has a live band and is home to the largest crape myrtle in the South! There are 12 unique shops varying from clothing to candy and gifts. Be sure to try lunch at Panini Pete’s and don’t forget to take a breezy walk down the Fairhope Pier before you leave.

Downtown Pensacola (25 minutes away)

Pensacola’s downtown area is blossoming on all fronts. From dining to shopping and nightlife, it is your shortest drive to city life. The third Friday of every month is Gallery Night. Do yourself a favor and join in on the fun at least once. The streets close down, the lights come up and the music plays! It is such a fun night to enjoy art, cuisine and grab a cocktail. Streets close to traffic at 5pm, but there is plenty of parking on the side streets. If you prefer to skip the crowds, try The Fish House any night of the week. You have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating and there is absolutely nothing on the menu that disappoints. They have changing specials and an impressive wine menu.

Blackwater River Adventures – Milton, Florida (55 minutes away)

Blackwater River is a great choice for those who prefer to get outside. Whether you want to tube or canoe down the river or camp overnight, you’ll find it with a short drive to Milton, Florida. There are many options to rent tubes, canoes, kayaks, ect. but Adventures Unlimited has a few more options to choose from. You can take a glide down the zip line course, rent a paddle board or even book an overnight cabin in the woods! After a hot sunny day floating down the river, you can stop off by Scoops Ice Cream on your way back to Perdido and you are sure to sleep heavy that night with wonderful new memories under your pillow!
