Mardi Gras Parades in Perdido Key & Beyond: Where to Catch the Festivities!

Mardi Gras Parades in Perdido Key & Our Surrounding Areas

When you think of Mardi Gras, most think of New Orleans, but it actually stretches further back to medieval Europe, particularly France and Spain. The first American Mardi Gras celebration took place in Mobile, Alabama (only an hour from Perdido Key), in 1703, long before New Orleans became known for it. Over time, the Gulf Coast communities, including Pensacola, Gulf Shores, and Orange Beach, have adopted the traditions, creating their own unique spin while staying true to the heart of the celebration.
