You’ve seen the beautiful photos and you may have even visited our little piece of paradise here on the Gulf Coast. It is laid back, slow paced and surrounded by white sandy beaches. But are you curious where exactly this stretch of heaven is located?
Well, Perdido Key is an unincorporated community in Escambia County, Florida between Pensacola, Florida and Orange Beach, Alabama. Did you know “Perdido” actually means “lost” in Spanish and Portuguese languages? It is located on and named for a barrier island in northwest Florida and southeast Alabama. The Florida district of the Gulf Islands National Seashore includes the east end of the island as well as other Florida islands. Perdido Key is actually no more than a few hundred yards wide in most places and stretches some 16 miles from nearby Pensacola to Perdido Pass near Orange Beach.
Perdido Key is home to 2 marinas, two grocery stores (Publix and Winn Dixie) and 16 restaurants. Are you planning a visit? Well, here are the details on how far you’ll travel from neighboring cities
